Technology Iphone vs. Smartphone :)

This is pointless. I don't think half of you that are iPhone haters can say anything until you've tried both. Since I have, here's what's wrong with that little cartoon:

The iPhone can do spreadsheets. It has the entire Office Suite on the phone.

It pushes e-mail, too.

While the iPhone doesn't have GPS, most smart phones don't either. Usually, you have to get some retarded hardware add on that costs 200$

This is a poor argument. I have nothing against smart phones, even if they run Windows Mobile. I converted to the iPhone for two simple reasons. One, I hate the bulkiness of smart phones. Two, Windows Mobile is morbidly slow compared to the OS X that runs on the iPhone.

Steve Jobs made a comment one time along the lines of if you love your software, you should make your own hardware to run it. If Bill Gates would use that idea for his smart phones, I'd reconsider. I'll tell you right now, if Mac OS X ran on a Motorola, LG, or HTC, there's no way in hell I'd buy it.

Most Smartphones at the iPhone's price have GPS.

It supports push? Yea, on Yahoo...what fucking use is that to most people?

Document support...you can view spreadsheets and word docs...but no editing...

Would have liked to see 3G (apparently battery life was an issue), however it isn't gonna last too long if you're using the wi-fi...assuming you are near a hotspot.

It might be good, but is by no means perfect.

My friend unlocks iphones so I have A LOT of them to play with. I myself use PDA (with good 624mhz intel processor, bt and wifi) for "business" stuff and normal small mobile phone with basic stuff like bluetooth, camera and gprs for calling, sms and mms. Whenever I want I connect them both for internet connection or use wifi - that's the best for me.

But honestly if I had to choose 1 device and it would be an Iphone or a smartphone for a similar price I wouldn't ever consider the first option as it's not even average as a phone nor good as a pda while modern smartphones successfully emulate both.

I quite like Windows Mobile, it works good, never even froze or restarted for me.

Also that argument about same brand to do hardware and software is really pointless. There are brands that do better hardware like Asus, Eizo etc. while other do better software - Microsoft or Electronic arts for example. I wouldn't buy OS from Motorola same way as Microsoft's hardware usually sucks.

Anyway nice that a stupid image I posted sparked discussion.

I like the Iphone... It's pretty and I think the user interface is very smart...

But to download a webpage takes fucking ages... I aint gonna pick 1 up until they improve on net connection.

well i think the ifone is definately cooler but i have verison service and cant get one. they have the envy or whatever but its nowhere near as slick as the i phone but another phone that is very easy to use and is just simply badass are the new blackberrys with the roller ball mouse-like thing in the center. it makes accessing anything easy as pie
