They would if they didn't eat more than 1200 calories a day. A glass of orange juice can be 200 calories. If someone ate an apple for a day and sat around doing nothing they would lose weight.

I did not see it say "Per Capita" so I assume those stats are not "Per Capita". and even if they are not per capita I do believe that there are a handfull of countrys that have larger populations then us.
