I've never really been part of a religion, so I can sort of relate to what you are saying. I think the problem, though, is not "religion" itself, because that concept to me has always been about one's personal relationship with God, but I think the methods of generating that relationship have been manipulated to serve the needs and whims of the Church. "Faith" is something you find for yourself, so whether you chose to share that faith with others in an organised religion or merely develop and strengthen it within yourself, ultimately it does not matter. What is important is faith itself and finding your own fulfilment, and as artisticgurl said - that is something you are capable of doing using your own judgment and moral understanding.
