Yea.I understand what you saying but i wouldn't say its that bad to the point that its boring.I mean look at Sacramento Kings for example. They have pretty loud and cheerful fans.

One factor you have to take in consideration like it or not,but its true,is that NBA fans are mostly business man or high employed individuals who after the work go to the games and watch.Whereas in other countries,Greece for example,(Not saying other countries don't have business people) has mostly young students and people like that who are less employed and got nothing better to do expect to go to the games and watch. It might sound ignorant but i think thats one of the factors.

Also, college teams have loud cheering fans.I mean so loud that its krazy.I never been to the game but i already know what its like being one of those college games just watching on TV.They cheer throughout the game non stop. For example Duke and N.Carolina.They have radicolous fans.Even louder then that clip you showed.

So,i don't think NBA is that really bad as far as fans go.They're not as loud and cheerful as you want to be but they're not boring either. But when it comes to soccer. They are bad.Thats another story though.

Panathinaikos fans sing this great song in a basketball game at the Olympic indoor sports hall of Athens :
In' ena horto magico, dhoste mou ligho ghia na pio, ton PAO mou na onirefto ke na fonaks' os to Theo : Panatha mou, se aghapo, san heroini, sa skliro narcotico, san to hashish, to lsd, ghia/me sena PAO mastouroni ol' i ghi, ol' i ghi. Panatha mou, Panatha mou, se aghapo, se aghapo, opou ki an pezis panda tha s' akoloutho, s' akoloutho, PAO edho, PAO edho, PAO eki, PAO eki, opou ki an pezis panda tha 'maste mazi, panda mazi.

Translation: It's a magic weed, give me a little bit to taste, to dream of my PAO and shout until God: My Panatha, I love you, like heroin, like a hard drug, like hashish, lsd, for you PAO the whole world is stoned, (or: PAO the whole world is high on you), the whole world. My Panatha, My Panatha, I love you, I love you, wherever you may play I will always follow you, I follow you, PAO here, PAO here, PAO there, PAO there, wherever you may play we will always be together, always together.

They're not even watching. They went to tha game to cheer and then go home.

Davy you have your answer right here... this is the difference between america and europe..

In Europe you have some attachment feeling with your club or team. You don't care about paying 40$ to go to the game and just chant, yell, burn torches, do pyro...as long as you support your team... after a while, it became a tradition and it modified the "go team go" to this chant...

In the States, you want to have something in return for the 40$ and it's not your responsabilty to chant or make your team play well...

Montreal Canadiens' fans are somewhere in between... the Bell Center is always full no matter what...

Its just a different culture that's all... I don't see a Sacramento Kings fan learning a 4 min song by hear like the Liverpool FC fans do...

And to destroy Bachavelis post :

Do you think that Chelsea's fans are all some bums... do you even have the slightest idea how much a ticket costs for a season game in London??? Its fucking expensive and the season tickets are always gone after 2-3 days... and they have one of the best fans in Europe who never stop singing...

Hizzle summed it up. It was nonetheless pregame or halftime chant cause you can see hardly anyone on the floor. Even so, I don't see Sacremento King fans singing and waving flags, they go in the back to get a coke and smile.

we have that in Canada and hockey games...maybe not as crazy tho, but still.
no you dont.... chanting like this means that you have an organized group of fans who took time to write a 4 min song about their club...

im sorry but i never saw toronto maple leaf fans singing... they only yell GO LEAFS GO and thats it...

just so you know, in Europe, hockey teams have their songs too. In Switzerland, Germany, Finland, Sweden, Norway and Denmark mostly

Europeans have such a mentality that they'd be singing 5 minute chants and burning torches during a cock fight, with cops soon intervening.

Nothing is more fun, than chanting your team's songs, while throwing flares into the air and having the military police shoot rubber bullets at you. I'm serious. lol
