^My thoughts exactly. Dude gets mad respect from me, who apologizes about getting injured.

I've heard and hope there only rumors that they might try to go after Hunter. Makes some sense but then it doesn't, see what happens.

I don't understand the validity of these rumors that the Yanks will trade for big names such as Soriano, Hunter, Abreu, Griffey, and Kearns. The Yankees' farm system is depleted, their best prospect, the catcher Navarro, was traded last year or the year before. I understand they are the biggest market in baseball, but that usually only works when buying free agents. In a trade, only 200K can be transferred, so they can't buy a player that way. The only way I could see them getting a major player is in a salary dump, which would not include the names I listed above.

keep in mind that alot of owners (ie Philly and Bobby Abreu's 30 million dollars over the next 2 years) just want to shed salary and wont mind taking B-level prospects for stars.

the yankees still have CJ Henry, Kevin Reese, Kevin Thompson and Phillip Hughes among their top prospects (and Melky, although he was already called up to replace Matsui)

Hughes wont be traded though, hes going to be a star pitcher in the future

either way, I think we can make it through the season without needing to make a major trade, but if we do, I hope we bring in Torri Hunter

Instead of worrying about who could replace Matsui, they should worry about pitching and maybe you won't need extra bat afterall.Yanks dont need another bat, they need another arm.

i think if the Yankees use Bubba and Melky to their advantage (Bubba is good for defense, #9 hitter, Melky is speedy), then they wont need to worry about anything. Melky can swipe some bags if they just gave him time to bloom

If the Yankees didn't have A-rod, Giambi and Jeter in their lineup then I'd be worried, but those 3 guys alone can put up some solid numbers, let alone throwing in Damon and Cano, who are also above-average hitters

Some teams have only one or maybe two 'A Rod' type a all around, all star players and winning games with that limited power.Yanks have more than five of those and now one gets hurt and they want to worry who will replace his numbers. And when they loose they'll say we didn't have anough offense. No, you didn't have good pitching to had kept your team in close game.

My point is Yanks have no right to complain and whine and even to think about replacing someone with Matsui,Instead they should focus on their pitchers. They have good enough offense, they need good pitching if they want to win.
