Technology Help with a video file

I have an mpeg file, but it won't play on any of my programs. I downloaded one of those video converters but I have no idea how to use it. Any help? Reps will be in order :thumb:

maybe .mpeg. isn't the real extension of your file. Rename it to .avi or .wmv file and then try playing it

Does any error come up when you try to play it? Be sure to have a video codec installed on your computer, too..

I think something is wrong with the file, I downloaded about a million different codecs and none of them worked, I tried what pietro006 said to do and that didn't work. I don't know why, I've never had a problem playing mpegs before, but it won't play on WMP, Divx Player, RealPlayer, WinDVD, Winamp or vlc player. The file says it's 99, 872 kbs but when I play it, it either says unsupported file, or it will start like it's gonna play and then just end without ever actually starting. I thought converting it to avi or something different might work, but the conversion programs all say it's an unsupported file type. Oh well, I guess I'll just delete it then

download vitrualdub..if that can't open it its most likley a fucked up file.

Virtualdub says it cannot detect the file type, so I guess it's fucked

I guess your video file is corrupted, I don't think you can do anything more for it

If you downloaded it from a website, try redownloading it. Sometimes it can get corrupted in the process.

If it's from a p2p or something, there's probably nothing you can do about it.
