Gilbert Arenas is the MVP.

I cannot believe there is no Gilbert Arenas talk in this forum. To be an NBA fan, and have no talk of him is pathetic. I came here browsing the forum the night he dropped 60 and there was NOTHING about it. Why?

To date, the Lakers v. Wizards game last Sunday was the best game in the 2006-2007 season. Kobe dropped 45 and Gilbert out-performed him dropping 60. This was the first time in history two players scored more than 45 in a single game. But let's talk about this 60 for a minute...

60 is the season high so far. 60 is the most points ever scored against the Lakers, second only to Wilt Chamberlain. 60 is the Wizards franchise record (previously held by the great Elgin Baylor). 44 points in regulation, 16 in OT (was the highest ever in OT history). Only 16 other players in history have scored 60 or more.

So this isn't enough for you? Okay let's continue...

Gilbert is the past 2 weeks NBA-East Player of the week, heading into a 3rd week in a row. Last night he dropped 54 and snapped the Suns 15-game win streak. 60 points and 54 points in less than a week makes him only the 3rd player in history to drop 50+ points in 2games in a week (the two other's being Michael Jordan & Kobe Bryant). His 54 ties the second most points scored this season. Arenas is 3rd in scoring, almost 2nd.

So where the fuck is the Gilbert Arenas talk? Shut your fucking mouth.

He plays great ball right now. I dunno if he's the MVP, it's always a hard decision, always a couple of guys playin great.... but honestly, I never thought that Arenas would become as good as he is....I was wrong, he's playin great ball and one of the best players we have right now in the league, no doubt.

Its a long season and he has to be consistent before he gets my vote for mvp, right now my pick would be steve nash.

Im not taking nothing away from gilbert but it takes more than being the lead leader in scoring to win an mvp, if that was the case A.I would have a trophy case full of them.

Also to it will greatly depend on how far his team goes in the playoffs. What happens when the team stumbles how does he handle it, is he a good leader will he pick his guys up and shoulder them during the bad times as well. Theres so much that goes into being the mvp, yes he did something amazing it was awsome to watch but it still doesnt warrent mvp votes from me yet.

I agree with SiCc, esp with the part of playoffs success. He plays great, but only success makes you MVP these days. But if he keeps playin this way there is no doubt he can take his team maybe to the conference finals.

MVP is based on the regular season, stop with the playoffs please. I like Arenas a lot, been liking him for a while, he is great, but he still missed some costly free throws last year in the playoffs(Cleveland).

As far as MVP for this year yeah you can make a strong arguement for him but its still pretty early, he is putting up some great numbers though. I do not agree with Nash being MVP, it's easy to make plays and do what he does when he is given the ball everytime, it's like LT in the red zone, of course he is gonna score 30 TD's when you give it to him every play.

The thing I find funny is that no one is callin him out for being selfish or anything like that, no one is bashing him for making sure he scored 50 points last night. If Kobe said that haters would go crazy. Its pretty funny how hypocritical people are.

You know, I think part of it is just that people don't like Kobe period. He has a serious image problem. And as much as I can't stand Kobe Bean, I always enjoy watching him play over just about any other player in the league and he's without question the greatest all-around baller on the court. However, some of his fundamentals are out of wack. Lebron shits on him in a lot of areas. But like I said, it's just that people do not like Kobe. Iverson drops 50, no one hates him. T-Mac, same thing. etc etc...

AI doesn't get MVP awards for the same reason T-Mac and KG don't get them...poor teams. AI fell victim to the KG syndrome, but has been cured and I wouldn't doubt if he gets an MVP award at some point in the next 3-4 years. All three of those guys can't carry a team on their backs. Gilbert has taken the Wizards to the playoffs pretty much by himself (although much credit due to Jamison & Butler). I give it up to Nash though.

PS: You are ultimate drinking buddy on NBA nights :(

AI got an MVP though for carrying the team on his back remember.

Also curious, what do you think LeBron does better than Kobe.

Lebron is far superior on defense. Lebron can see the court better, by this I mean he knows everything happening and adjusts so. Lebron gets his team mates involved moreso than Kobe. And Lebron is just stronger period.

Two unimportant side-notes:

Lebrons shoes are better.
Lebrons a better actor.

Gilbert keeps having needs MVP numbers.. hell yeah throw him into the MVP mix.

but the Wizards need to win some ball games. get good enough to have a top 3 seed.

Gilbert would have my vote as MVP. theres plenty talented guys this season. Nash will not win it at the end of the year. I cant see people passing up people like Gilbert, Kobe, Duncan, Carmelo. Just to Give Nash the award 3 years in a row. (that would be foolish)

We can hate on Nash all we want but the bottom line is he is putting up mvp numbers, the suns are the hottest team in the NBA atm even with the lose to washington, so we can not toss Nash out of the hat, i think Yao is also being over looked for mvp as well, he is having a steller season this year there is no doubt about that, but once again playing for one of those not so good teams, although this year the rockets have turned it around, wich if they keep winning he will have a shot at the MVP.

And AI got an mvp easy when he carried the sixers to the title and lost. But its true that a lot of the guys that deserve the MVP award are generally on a very bad team and those guys dont get the votes because there teams are not winning, its a biased system but its the truth of it....If your team doesnt win and your having a phenominal season forget about your chances to win the MVP perhaps.

would you mind taking a decision.... shall we talk or not?

and he's great this season, but the wizards are not the best team in the nba right now....

And I also prefer Jamison :) (I've been his fan since i saw him play in NCAA)

I hate Canadians as much as the next guy but I tend to love them when they make my team great. Right now if Nash keeps his game up and the Suns don't fall off not only will Nash be the first three time MVP since Larry Bird, yes it's something your boy MJ never did :D, and my Suns will finally get that ring. I've been waiting years for it and this time there is no Jordan to stop them in the finals.

Im not conviced they can (they as in the suns) keep this sort of run and gun up all season and through the playoffs, there defiently exploitable if the tempo is slowed down.

There are some good teams out there that can do this to them, the spurs being the first in mind. But we shall see the season is very young.
