one thing i found annoying was that whenever i used to receive a message via facebook chat, my firefox used to instantly crash with a message saying i need to update quicktime player. i hated this, especially as i didnt have any quicktime extensions etc...

now the same thing happens, except it doesnt crash, it still always asks me to update. i dont like quicktime.

firefox runs very slow on my pc cpu. it consumes a lot of the working memory and makes the pc performance very sluggish. im prety sure on v1-1.5 FF consumed a lot less cpu resources. my pc has a 512MB AMD Athlon 64+ processor, (1.6GHz i think).

laptop has 2GB Intel Centrino Core2 Duo, 2.0GHz. much smoother on laptop. HDD capacity is about 70GB more (2HDDs on laptop) and also i have more memory freely available and less applications/softwares installed. so these could all be contributing factors to system performance.

im waiting to upgrade my pc processor - requires new motherboard, secondary hard drive (1TB), may or may not upgrade to windows 7 (i quite like XP though; and i know if i get windows 7 i probably need an even better cpu for longevity and to keep pc futureproof - i.e. not slow down significantly after a few years).

I might have to roll with chrome. Although Safari is faster than Firefox for me, for some reason I don't feel like using it.

Personally I think that the best browsers right now are Opera and Google Chrome. Firefox became too popular for the reason that it's not IE and now they are not even doing anything new with it. It's still better than IE but there are better alternatives at the moment.
If it wasn't for the fact that I love Opera's user friendly interface, speed, turbo on mobile devices (meaning way less data transfer costs), the fact that you can synchronize your bookmarks with every browser on any device and that I got really used to it I'd use Google Chrome instead. lol

Plus since I saw that there's already a huge base of viruses and trojans addressed directly for Firefox I'll always stick to less popular browsers.

yes firefox has been crashing way too often, it usually crashes after i''ve had the computer on lock or standby for sometime, have had to restart the computer just to get firefox up and running sometimes

i've noticed no change with this problem even after downloading the latest versions of firefox either

I just made the full switch over to Google Chrome. I installed the development beta version of Chrome which at the moment is the only version that supports Chrome Extensions. I then installed the Xmarks extension to sync over all my bookmarks from Firefox. Added a Google Wave notification extension, a Gmail notification extension, a Google Tasks button, and I'm good to go! No more Firefox for me.

in the last version of firefox, facebook chat always used to cause firefox to crash when asking for a quicktime player update.

no i have updated to the latest version, facebook chat doesnt cause it to crash anymore though it still causes a slight delay and then asks me to update quicktime player - which i always cancel by the way.

ive actually just installed google chrome and am typing this message using chrome.

the web pages are loading noticeably faster. the GUI is very nice, but not the same as firefox which i am very used to.

somehow, there is a browser which looks simpler than firefox. lol at when i type firefox, chrome is not recognising it as a correct term in spell check. yes, it spell checks on messages before you post them. this is great!!

i am definately going to switch over to chrome on my slow pc unless i want to download using downitnow for firefox which is a superfast download accelorator.

i will make more use of chrome now.

it feels so nice and simple to look at. the webpage looks more square and less widescreen now because there is only a tab and an address bar at the top as opposed to firefox which also has menu bar and bookmarks bar in addition to the aforementioned.

Glad to see you are checking out Chrome. If you get Dolphin Browser for the G1, you can sync your bookmarks between computer and phone.

another browser for the phone?

i mainly use steel > opera/default browser.

would love it if chrome made a mobile browser for android.

i was always going to check out chrome. ive just prolonged it for like a year and never got round to doing it. i hope to install chrome on my pc today.

even with the new firefox which boots up quickly, it still boots up slowly and drains the cpu capacity meaning that other processes are very slow and i have to leave task manager open just to execute certain processes when required. hopefully, chrome will be a lot more friendly to my cpu.

will get cpu, motherboard, hdd upgrades done in the future. possibly upgrade from winXP to Win7! :) but that would make it more complicated to keep my play count in WMP which is important to me.
