Technology firefox and its memory usage....

firefox is hogging up my RAM right now...wow...200 mb of it...and all i got are two tabs and a dl going on....nothing else, and my comp is running so slow...


i do use an RAM tracker thingy, that lets me know how much is left and what not...i got about 70 left, but still, do i need more RAM?? like another gig??? can the comp not use up that last 50 of that 70 or so???


and does anyone have this problem as well?

i have like 20 tabs open and its using 100mb.
what the fuck do you need 4 gigs of ram for? i was watching about 10 different porn flicks at once in different media players spanned across my desktop and it was not doing too much to the ram. but i guess the video adaptor does most of the work... how much porn do you need :horny:

i think i know why there was such a big usage of ram. i checked, my firefox was also using 160mb of ram and i was doing practically nothing, just a few tabs opened. i just uninstalled some extensions, like colourful tabs, rounded shapes etc.. now firefox is using only about 30 mb of ram.

anyways, yeah, im gonna try uninstalling some things...i onlygot faster fox, yahoo toolbar, adblock, anonymouser, and no script...is 5 too many extensions....

i have about 2 extensions, proxyswitch and fasterfox and it works very well. i think 5 may be a bit much but it should be able to handle it fine...
what version of firefox are you using?

and i think that anonymouser and that ad block i can get rid off...but what's that proxyswitch do?

i use it to switch proxies and then i delete rapidshare cookies and it allows me to download from rapidshare again without having to wait. my IP changes upon restart (the ip address cmd cheat doesnt work for me) but i dont want to be restarting my PC every couple of minutes because i'm working on something all the time when im on there...

aight, updated firefox, and it seems to be fine now.....i think it may have been because i was dling files, and it used firefox to monitor the progress....or something....but now im through with those series of large files and it seems to have come back down...


and that proxyswitch thigny, do i have to configure it or do i just dl it and it'll do the rest?

well you need to have a proxy list. search on the web, theres many lists... get a good proxy checker and it will weed out the nonworking ones. unless you're downloading from rapidshare regularly or are trying to bruteforce porn sites , you will usually not need anything to do with proxies.

yeah that rapidshare and megaupload...i do get screwed over sometimes with that stuff and end up having to wait an hour....its all good though...thanks for the help
