i agree with tennis dog on shenmue. played part one on the dreamcast at my friends place a lot. he was crazy about it, me, not so much. like tennis dog said, lot of "get from place a to place b." that's not to say the game is not grand, it's just not for me.
as far as final fantasy x-2 goes, i got it and played four or five hours into it but first of all, the cloth changing thing was wack imo. i also miss the sphere grid and the possibility to control how your player evolves somewhat. that's half the fun of ffx
x-2 is just too much girl power-ey comments, it's too pink, in lack of better terms to explain myself (and inclination to do so). it's an alright game though. i don't want to spoil the ending for people who want to maybe get it (although i really wouldn't recommend it unless you find the platinum version for $10 or less. then you should get it because it's ridiculously cheap, but the game still sucks in my honest opinion) but the ending ties the two games together in a way that i found very satisfactory. i cried at the end of the first one as well

So? Would you watch an outdated movie or listen to an outdated song?
while an outdated game does not compare to outdated movies and music, and while i'll admit that movies pre 80s don't normally catch my eye unless on very special occasions, i have to say that i would not play an outdated game unless it's dear to me. i'm always gonna love the first tony hawks for the ps1, and i'm always gonna love ffx, and i'm always gonna love resident evil for all platforms. however, i never played final fantasy when it came out on nes, snes and ps1, and therefore, the game doesn't mean anything to me. it doesn't remind me of past times of joy, and sitting at home playing a really old game on a pc emulator, i dunno man. i'd get bored. i downloaded ff7 for the pc once and played it for a few hours but the lack of audio speech like you have in final fantasy 10, and the very simplistic upgrade and fighting system compared to final fantasy 10, it made the game less interesting. besides, i know ff7 takes like what, 50-100 hours to complete. when i'm not really amazed by the storyline, graphics OR gameplay, i don't even want to invest time in it if i'm not gonna complete it.
