My situation is my pc was upgraded from Millenium to XP, but I'm not sure that if I get A file recover system, if I could still recover item, folders, mp3s, and other things that existed on my Windows Millenium Edition. Will this work, PLEASE HELP ME!!

I think so, but so what if my hard drive was cleaned out. I heard theres a file restore that can gain back items from reformatted computers. I'm not sure about this though and need confirmation though, which is what has led me here.

heres the dillio depends on what xp wrote over, theoretically you should be able to recover whatever files xp isnt installed over but it could of wrote over them all its wortha shot tho

My computer was rebooted twice before the XP installation. Should that have an effect on the outcome of whether the tracks could be recovered?

If you formatted your drive there is a way to get data back. But you can't take wait too long and the program is highly rare. Try a PC repair shop.

What do you mean the program is rare? What is the name if it has one?

I don't know the name sorry. All I know is that it recovers data from a format within a certain timescale. And yes, it's very rare, but some PC repair shops have it.

Heres the deal.
upgrading will not delete your data if you upgrade while your computer is running windows.

If you booted your computer with the upgrade cd and upgraded from DOS then that is a clean install and this will destroy your data.

So if the second situation applys to you then you can only recover your data if you did not reformat your hard disk drive.

If you kept your current filesystem which would have been fat32 and not formated your disks you can recover the DATA but it is hard.

If you formated your drive all data is unrecoverable. But not neccesarilly destroyed. A program like this one might help http://www.ontrack.com/easyrecoveryprofessional/
