Scotland actually do not too bad for a country our size. The only reason people find it funny is because we used to punch so much above our weight & now we don't. So basically, it's our pervious talent that spurns us now.
England being 8th is a bit of a fucking joke though. Forget that they've got 50 million people or a good history in football & just look at the array of talent they've got......but still can't win a thing.
Oh yes & the only reason Ireland has any talent is because they went to England to train when they were very young.....d'oh!

The reason USA is in front of england is becouse USA play good footbal and win thier # Continental championships, it has nothing to do with what you did 1962.
Look at France, they won World Cup98 and they are behind Czech Republic and USA, its becouse they been playing like shit since 2002..

* FIFA Confederations Cup matches
* Continental championship final matches
* Continental championship preliminary matches
* Friendly matches
The ranking list is produced by a computer program which assigns a team points for every match, according to clearly defined criteria. The factors taken into consideration are:
1. Winning, drawing and losing
2. Number of goals
3. Home or away match
4. Importance of the match (multiplication factor)
5. Regional strength (multiplication factor)
For each team only the seven best results per year are given full weighting. Results from the past are given progressively less weighting year by year until after eight years they are dropped completely. In this way current success is rated more highly than past results.
