Eyedea (Thinking Mans Hip Hop)

I ran into this guys work last year, I was just listening to some of his stuff and thought some of u guys might like his shit. I know streethop is where u usually post hip hop related stuff, but i dont think anyone on there will like it. On top of that I'm gonna have to hear a whole discussion on "whats the point of intelligent rap,u lissen to music to enjoy urself, if u wanted to think u'd read a book or something". Anyways Eyedea is actually a battle rapper who is most recognized for his freestyle battles. But when he writes its more intelligent and more deep. By this I dont mean political so dont expect any Immortal Technique or Paris type shit. Anyways heres one of his albums, if u guys like it i'll rip the other 2 and post em up

.. btw not everytrack is intelligent or deep, some of it is just plain ol' hip hop, so dont listen to the first track and go wtf, this aint 'thinking mans hip hop' and delete it, try giving the album a spin

edit: damn I think the link i posted, has a screwed up tracklist. The order of the tracks arent right, sorta screws up the essence of the album, i guess u guys can look up the tracklist if u want though

Eyedea been around for a while, he has gone a bad route, along with Atmosphere, Sage and them.

I love Eyedea but he stopped doing hip hop a few years ago to pursue rock music.

^yea he just released the Face Candy album, (cant say i liked it but it was different) still under rhymesayers entertainment... Lookin forward to another E&A project though.. Oliver Hart was dope too, seeing that he did everything on that album himself (writing, performing, prodcuing, etc) other than the few guest spots by Carnage

I would love for another E&A album b ut I don't see it coming anytime soon. Last year I was at an atmosphere show in this tiny little bar in Baton Rouge. The good thing about the place being so small was that I actually got a chance to chat it up with Slug for a bit. In the conversation we talked about rhymesayers and all the artist and I asked about E&A and if we were going to see another album and all he said "don't hold your breath" and that was it. Then we started talking about the Katrina relief effort. The show was a katrina benefit, he was really interested in everything I had to tell him about what I had been doing. Really nice guy.

damn.. that sucks. But I guess eyedea will end up doing whatever he enjoys more and whatever makes him more money, so good for him... Other than that yea Slug seems to be a pretty down to earth guy. Well atleast Brother Ali is still doing some dope shit.. his albums supposed to drop early next year
