Everton sign Van Der Meyde

I see this as a step forward for Everton. Until this transfer they hadn't really been able to sign any big name players. I think this - along with European football - will help them attract quality players in the future.

Thought ?

think he'll be a sensation with Everton, great player.
No he's not. He's very inconsistant (i.e Robert,Rommedahl) and was very poor for Inter.

Imo Emre is much better than Van Der Meyde and Everton did try to sign him but like Scott Parker he saw the light and rejected Goodison in favour of the alluring St. James' Park.

LMAO the alluring St James's Park.

Yeah so alluring right now, no points, no goals and bottom of the premiership.

Actually Sunderland are bottom.

Alluring enough to bring Luque and Michael Owen to Newcastle.

Why did Emre and Parker reject Everton for N'Castle?

dcs7 is right... owen only went as a last resort... If be stayed at Madrid he's play would have been a big fat zero, Behind Ronald,Raul,Babtista,Robinho there is no way that would happen.. and if you watched the Brazil vs Chile match, you'll see way Robinho is infront of owen

But if he stayed at madrid that would have damaged his World Cup ambitions..

He tried to go back to liverpool but they wanted to pay the same price madrid paied for him a year ago..

Because Newcastle offered them a lot of money.
Newcatle where in a position to give them the money they deserved because we have a bigger and better stadium which generates more money. Not to mention numerous seasons in Europe and that's because Newcastle are a bigger and better club than Everton.

And I read somewhere that Moyes rang Owen asking him if a move to Everton would be on the cards......
