EMP - Electro Magnetic Pulse

EMS - Electronic Muscle Stimulation

I got one of them machines where you put pads on specific muscles, and an electrical current contracts/relaxes the muscles. The machine is at the back of my closet and haven't used it for a while, probably because the pads/wires set up can be a pain in the arse sometimes. It cost me a good £100, and works a treat, I get to control the intensity and speed levels. I guess I never quite got used to the strange feeling it produces, like when it contracts both bicep/tricep muscles, and the arm, involuntarily, wants to extend/retract both ways at the same time.

Anyone else used one one of these/ thought it was any good?

yeah! The machine I have has two settings, 1) Therapy mode; which is like a gentle vibrating massage, 2) Sports mode; for a more intense workout.

Brondon Lee is seen using one in the way of the dragon movie, and says "it is like doing 200 push-ups in 2 minutes". I've never used used it on that kind of intensity level, or been stupid enough to electrocute myself (that's what the instructions are for!). But damn, after 30 mins just sat there, I'd be sweaty as if I had just done a proper workout.

who cares what he said.if you think this is a replacement for a workout, then you're wrong.the electric pulses arent strong enough to tear your muscle.that's how you build muscle when working out.you tear the muscle, and it has to heal, then theres extra tissue from repairing it.like i said before, the only thing one of those does is give you a massage.

Lol!

I must correct myself and address the fact that they aren't actually called 'EMP: Electro Magnetic Pulse' machines they are in fact called 'EMS: Electronic Muscle Stimulation' machines - on account on their actual function. That just shows how long ago it was since I used it.

They are crap for massages, better for toning muscles than anything else. Not very good for body building.

You will not build muscles, or get ripped from these machines.

They are help to repair muscles by stumulating them, the same as a massage that is all. That is also why you can find them on sale for 3.99.

Brandon Lee was paid to say that. The same reason anyone endorses any product. I don't drink Pepsi because Britney and Co. told me to.

When you are sore, does that mean that that there's a tear of the muscle?

I don't think that four 9 volt batteries is enough to electrocute someone or give you a heart attack. They are perfeclty safe to use.

Low voltage across your heart will kill you.

But it isn't enough to electrocute you. I get electric shocks at work of 240v all the time. It hardly hurts.

im sure any current across your heart would kill you wouldnt it? 240v is that what ya get outta normal wall sockets in ya house? reminds me when i was younger (cuz i didnt know better) the top of the plug got broke on one of my things, think its was my stereo, anyway so i plugged it back in holding the prongs inside the plug, that shocked the shit outta me so i ran under the covers cuz just kept seeing this bright red light infront of me, it was fucked up i shit myself, im just glad the prongs were only small cuz if i woulda had a proper grip on them i probably wouldnt be able to let go and woulda been fried
