Elephantballs!!

Watched it on a BBC channel.

Dunno if it was live, but it was great.

I'm still wary of Galloway's merits as a politician but he does have heart.

He's my Glaswegian brethren too......

George Galloway (British MP) had been accused by the American Senate of receiving money from Hussein's regime by dealing in illegal oil trades. The Americans had produced 'documents' & got a 'confession' from a former Iraqi official (imprisoned - & probably tortured - at Guantanamo Bay) that 'proved Galloway's guilt. As such, they had told the world he was guilty of their charge.

Anyhoo, in order to clear his name Galloway flew over there - voluntarily - & went before the Senate. He then proceeded to discredit certain areas of their prosecution - as it were -, continuously claimed innocence & took shots at American foregin policies while highlighting hypocritical statements & actions of the Senate & American government.

Basically, he made them look really dumb & made a mockery of their charge.

Yeah, we've seen it and not thought much about it. He's obviously trying to divert attention away from his guilt and it's not working. At least not here.

^^He's serious.
He can't be serious if he watched the video. I saw half of the video (it was like an hour or so, i got the point after a half) and it so destroyed some of the Senate's points it made them look childish. Jokey might surprise sometimes but he cant be serious about this.

the senate boys got a little overzealous and basically fucked with the wrong man.

Galloway is quite belligerent so I wouldn't pay too much attention to that. From what I've seen he launched a tirade on American foreign policy but didn't really deal with the matter of his own culpability. Whether's he's guilty or not I don't know, but you can usually tell when Jokerman is playing around, his post seemed serious to me at least.

First off: damn you :D i had to look up "belligerent", and having to consult a dictionary doesnt happen often to me

On topic: I don't know much about the case, but from what i've seen in the vid. Galloway could so bloody easily dismiss their points. Such as the part with the visits to Iraq, statements about Iraq, the claim that he owned a company (never touched a barrel of oil, lol), the claim about documents from different timeperiods, whcih was blatantly false. Galloway only had to use two or three common resources to destroy the claims. so that makes the entire case very wobbly at best, looking at the quality of the accusators' homework.

Exactly. He discredited their sources & 'documents', thus dismantling the case against him.

I agree with Scottish newspapers though: retribution will not be far off. The Americans don't like being embarassed.

They'l pull of a Yithzak Rabin/J.F. Kennedy/Ma Baker mixture-stunt to try and assasinate him.

I dont know wether hes guilty or not, but what really impressed me is how he handled himself. The senate couldnt say shit, I was very impressed!

I seriously doubt the Americans are going to assassinate a British MP. What a waste of time and resources that would be.

Maybe we should start calling you Jokerman, Duke :D
