ECW One Night Stand Returns This Year

'One Night Stand' encore official

BY BLACKJACK BROWN

Last Saturday at a WWE house show on Long Island, Tazz introduced Extreme Championship Wrestling chief Paul Heyman to a huge ovation. Heyman promptly announced that for the second straight summer, the boys of ECW would be back. "One Night Stand'' will return to the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York on June 11 and most likely will feature many of the same stars as last year's version. The show also could start a bidding war between WWE and TNA Wrestling for the remaining former ECW stars. Already there will be a big void in the show, with The Dudleys, Rhyno, Sabu, Raven and others now in TNA. If TNA were smart, it would sign other ex-ECW talent to short-term summer deals.

Around the ring: Eddie Guerrero officially has been added to the list of inductees to the WWE Hall of Fame. Names that will be added in the coming weeks include Tony Atlas, Arn Anderson and Sherri Martel. ... Marty Jannetty will work in WWE at least through the spring. ... JBL had surgery after a serious hand injury last week.

They can make up for those absences by having RVD (who wasn't fit last time), New Jack and The Eliminators, as well as the guys from last time. Of course, if TNA (and WWE) let TNA contracted talent work the show then they could have Dreamer/Raven, RVD/Lynn, RVD/Sabu, Dudleys/Eliminators or whatever.

Anyway, I'd book it something like this:

Chris Benoit vs. Dean Malenko vs. Rey Mysterio
Yoshihiro Tajiri vs. Super Crazy
The Eliminators vs. The Gangstas (New Jack and Mustapha)
Mike Awesome vs. Masato Tanaka II
Terry Funk vs. Cactus Jack
Sandman vs. Justin Credible vs. Stevie Richards
Tommy Dreamer vs. Jerry Lawler

Some of those might not be possible, but I'd pay to see that show.
