ECW'S ONE NIGHT STAND PPV
* broadcast opens with fans in the arena chanting "ECW" followed by the ECW theme song - Out comes Paul Heyman. Heyman (wearing his usual head set) is met with chants of "ECW, ECW." Fans started "Paul E." Heyman said the dream has risen again. Fans chant "thank you Paul E." Paul said ECW is back on a better network, Sci Fi. Heyman said that this didn't happen because of Heyman or Vince (who got boos), it happened because of the fans. Heyman thanked the fans! Heyman puts over the PPV, said its better than Monday Night Raw or Friday Night Smackdown. He said its the re-birth of ECW!
* New ECW Opening. Something like the ECW on TNN, but a little hipper.
* Joey Styles welcomed us the PPV. Looks like he is flying solo.
(1) Tazz defeated Jerry "The King" Lawler. Tazz comes out to the "survive if I let you" theme. King came out and slapped Joey Styles. The booth is next to the entrance ramp. After the King enters the ring, Styles comes back and jumps Lawler. Lawler takes control, gets Styles up for the piledriver, but is greeted from behind with the Tazmission by Tazz, and its over in just 36 seconds. Referee checks Lawler's arm, but it goes down three straight times.
* Tazz joins the announce booth.
(2) Kurt Angle defeated Randy Orton. Angle's new teeth guard says simply "ECW." Fans chant "f--- him up Angle" as the match starts. Crowd is red hot. Angle went for the ankle lock early as the fans chanted "break his ankle!" Fans chant "f--- you Orton." "Angle fits the ECW environment like a glove," says Tazz on commentary. True enough, fans are heavily behind Angle. A lot of stalling by Orton early in the match. Fans chant "you can't wrestle" at Orton. Orton put Angle in a head lock, but fans chanted "boring." Angle hits three straight german suplexes. Angle slam at 12:30, but Orton kicked out. Angle goes for the ankle slam, but Orton countered, followed by a neck breaker. Orton goes for a crossbody from the top rope, but Angle countered it into a two count. Angle slaps on the ankle lock, and Orton taps at 15:08. After the match, Angle goes back to the entrance ramp and chants "ECW, ECW." Fans chanted "you tapped out" to Orton. Orton is helped to the back by two referees.
* They plug upcoming ECW house shows.
(3) The F.B.I. (Tony Mamaluke and Little Guido with Big Guido) vs. Tajiri and Super Crazy. Wonder what happened to big Sal E? I get the impression Guido might be brought in to feud with the Big Show? Hmm. Fans chant "welcome back" for Tajiri. Hopefully they keep Super Crazy in ECW. Tajiri and Crazy put the FBI upside down in opposite corners, followed by a double baseball slide. Nice spot. Guido attacks a helpless Super Crazy on the outside of the ring. Spinning heel kick by Tajiri on Guido, but only a two count. Tajiri is really over with the fans! Little Guido pinned Tajiri at 12:24. Good tag bout.
* The Big Show music hits, out comes the Show. Big Guido waits for him, but the show takes care of him with ease. Show goes after both teams, and cleans house.
* As Styles and Tazz talk, JBL starts cutting a promo from the second level. Fans chant "you suck d--k." JBL calls about last year's One Night Stand and the Blue Meanie. JBL declares himself the king of hardcore. JBL puts down Tazz for leaving network TV for the Sci Fi channel. Fans chant "assh--e" at JBL. He said if Tazz hadn't left Smackdown, he would have been fired. JBL said he is now the voice of Smackdown. Looks like he's replacing Tazz in the Smackdown broadcast booth. JBL says he is a wrestling god, and said this show sucks.
(4) World Heavyweight title match: Sabu vs. Rey Mysterio Jr. Luke warm reaction for Mysterio. Rey has ECW on the back of his mask. The referee is Nick Patrick. The chairs are involved in the match early. Sabu does the jump off the chair, nailing his knee into Mysterio in the corner. At the two minute mark, Sabu sets up a table up on the guard rail. He places Rey on the table, and sets up the chair in the ring, but Rey gets off the table. Later, Rey crashes Sabu through the table! Rey attemps a chair jump (ala Sabu), but misses. Sabu hits a moonsault off the chair onto Rey, but the champion kicks out at 2. On a second table, Sabu jumps off a chair onto Rey hitting a DDT as both crash hard on the arena floor. "Oh my god," says Styles. A "doctor" comes out, checking on Sabu and Mysterio, and says the match is over, they can not continue. The doctor and Patrick help Mysterio to the back. Officials come out to attend to Sabu.
(5) Terry Funk and Tommy Dreamer (with Beulah McGillicutty) vs. Mick Foley and Edge (with Lita). Fans chant you "sold out" at Foley. Foley, on the mic, said he did sell out, he sold out Madison Square Garden. Mick said he loved ECW when it was run by a creative genius - Stephanie McMahon! He says long live the alliance! Foley introduces Edge. Edge cuts a promo putting down Heyman and the ECW fans. Lita calls Tommy Dreamer the innovator of silence! Lita put down Dreamer's wife. Beulah cuts a promo, putting down Lita. She wants the match changed to a three on three match. Lita and Beulah have a pull apart. Looks like its a six persons tag match now. I hope they wrestle as long as they talked. Dreamer tagged in Funk as fans chant "Terry, Terry!" On the outside of the ring, Funk and Foley brawl in one corner, as Dreamer and Edge battle in another. Dreamer has pulled out his trash can of weapons. Under the ring, Edge grabs a ladder, as Foley and Funk battle down the entrance way. Edge was going to spear Dreamer onto the set up ladder in the corner, but Tommy hip tosses Edge into instead. With the ladder around his neck, Funk knocks everyone down in sight. Funk climbs the ladder, but the heels tip it over, crashing him on the mat. Foley and Edge bring in a bed of barbed wire. They slam it onto Dreamer! Funk and Dreamer slam Foley into the board full of barbed wire. Fans chant "this is awesome!" Lita gives Foley a piece of barbed wire, and punches Funk with it as Terry is cut wide open. Foley wraps Funk's head around the barbed wire. A battered Funk is helped to the back. Fans chant we "want Sandman." Foley, Edge, and Lita used Foley's bat wrapped with barbed wire on Foley. Foley brings out Mr. Socko, and puts the claw on Beulah. Foley puts the claw on Dreamer, Edge his the spear. Rather than going for the cover, the heels go after Beulah. With a head wrap, Funk returns with a stick wrapped in barbed wire. Dreamer low blows Edge, allowing Funk to return who goes after Foley. Bealuh lights the barbed wire stick and Funk rams it into Foley who crashes through the barbed wrie table on the outside of the ring. In the ring, Dreamer DDT's Edge. Dreamer wraps a piece of barbed wire around Edge's neck. The girls fight, and its "cat fight!" Dreamer driver to Lita, but Edge makes the save. Edge spears Bealuh, and gets the win at 18:49.
On the outside, Funk bleeds heavily from the barbed wire. Dreamer attends to his wife in the ring. They need wire cutters to free Funk from the board filled with barbed wire. Fans chant "Thank you Tommy."
* backstage, Cena and RVD are shown in separate areas of the building warming up for their match.
(6) Balls Mahoney v. Masato Tanaka. Tanaka has his right shoulder taped up. As Styles pointed out, Balls has lost weight. On the outside, Balls called for a beer, and smashes it over Tanaka's head. Masato superplexes Balls back in the ring, but only gets a two count. Mahoney superplexes Masato back in the ring, but only a two count. Mahoney smashes a chair over Masato's head and pins his Japanese opponent at 5:03. No AC/DC music, lots of generic sampling tonight.
* As the ring announcer is about to introduce the main event, out comes Eugene. He cut a promo. He said he is hardcore, but got no reaction. Tazz asks if its Monday night? Eugene reads a poem about ECW. Fans chant "shut the f--- up." Out comes The Sandman to some god awful generic music. Best sign in the stands, "if Cena wins, we riot!" The Sandman comes in the ring to cane Eugene. A waste of time!
(7) WWE title match: John Cena vs. Rob Van Dam. RVD comes out to his WWE theme. No Fonzie. As you might expect, Cena gets boo-ed. Cena kept throwing his shirt into the crowd, and they kept throwing it back at him. A roll of tiolet paper is tossed into the crowd. Fans chant "you can't wrestle" at Cena. The two have a face to face war of words, followed by a series of punches. Fans chant "same old sh--" at Cena. Pretty funny spot. On the outside, RVD climbs on top of the guard rail, but Cena pushes him into the crowd. Cena grabs a "F--- you Cena" and puts it over RVD and punches the challenger. RVD hits a guilletine leg drop onto Cena at the edge of the ring. RVD kicks a chair into Cena in the corner. Two count. Rolling thunder with the steel chair on the champion! 2 and 1/2 count. Split leg moonsault on Cena, but the champ blocked it with a chair. Cena hits a DDT on RVD on a chair, two count. Cena slings RVD head first into a chair that was perched between the top rope and second rope. Cena gives RVD the five knuckle shuffle. RVD blocks the FU, as fans chant "RVD, RVD." RVD has Cena tied up in the ropes at the fifteen minute mark in the match. RVD grabs a table and brings it in the corner. Cena sneaks up from behind and puts RVD in the STFU. After an argument, Cena clotheslines the ECW referee. Cena throws the ring steps into the ring, and slams it into RVD. Nick Patrick is now the official in the match. Edge comes in the ring with a biker's helmet and spears Cena through a table. Fans chant "thank you Edge." Five star frog splash! RVD pulls the ref over, but Patrick is hardly moving. Out comes Heyman. Heyman makes the three count at 20:37! RVD is announced as the new WWE champion. Big Show comes into the ring, as RVD leaves through the audience. RVD hugs his wife Sonya on the second level as Heyman grins in the ring.
RVD comes back into the ring and celebrates with the ECW talent. They plug Vengeance on the screen and mention that perhaps RVD would defend the ECW/WWE title against Edge at Vengeance. RVD is celebrating with the belt as the PPV ends.
Finally, Cena doesnt have the fuckin belt anymore
