Eastern/Western Philosophy

#1
I came upon an interesting comparison with regards to the besic views of the different views depicted in the east and west:

In a ying yang concept, two opposites: Eastern views of life as being both ying and yang simultaniously, one flowing with the other. There is no good without bad. Now Western views is depicted as a kind of closed concept train of thought where life is supposed to be all yang, and no ying; with excuses being made for the existence of ying, instead of the recognition of seeing what is, and admitting it.

just thought i'd share it.

SO what you're saying is that the East believes that good and bad are supposed to go together and the West believes that there should only be good and they make excuses for the bad.
For example in the East someone would see a sudden death as a part of life whereas a Westerner would see a sudden death as a huge trajedy and would be quick to look for someone to blame or some kind of a reason/rationalization.

Peace.

You hit the nail on the head really.

Not only are the differences there in philosophy, but look at traditional Eastern medical care. Acupuncture. That's all about balance. Ying, yang, spirit, chi.

Interesting to see how different peoples think about same problems in different ways.
