after suffering a blow by losing offensive coordinator scott linehan to the st. louis rams, where he accepted the head coaching job, the miami dolphins were quick to act by hiring former bills head coach and steelers offensive coordinator mike mularkey as the new dolphins offensive coordinator.
also, miami announced the hiring of former panthers and texans head coach, and steelers defensive coordinator dom capers as a special defensive assistant coach. last year, miami essentially split the defensive coordinator job between will muschamp (assistant head coach/defense) and richard smith (defensive coordinator), with nick saban overseeing the defense as a whole. both coaches probably should remain aboard, with capers adding his own unique and in-depth knowledge of the 3-4 defense.
this offseason should prove to be very fascinating for dolphins fans, as the team is riding high after winning it's last 6 contests in a row. the team will be in a very favorable position relative to the salary cap, and should be free to be very active in free agency. bringing high-profile free-agents to miami has never been a problem as it is an attractive place to play and live, and this year shall prove to be no exception.
the team has already been reported to be interested in soon-to-be released wide receiver terrell owens, as well as free agent guard steve hutchinson.
with nick saban in charge, the dolphins are prime to overtake new england in the afc east and to restore greatness to the franchise.
