Destiny: delineate it ...
put it in your perspective ...what does it mean to you...do you always plan but perfer to leave it to fate...how about relationships and life choices..how big is the impact of destiny in your life..is it always there at the back of your mind? or just a concept with no mysterious impact on you?

To be honest i think destinys kinda weird cause i think like well what if i jus decided to go down the road now cause say i feel like changin my destiny, and meet some one or suttin happens that could change my life but does that still mean it was destiny? was it destiny that i was gonna get feelins to walk down that road anyway or did i change my own destiny? sometimes i wonder weather to go places jus to see what happens but im not sure if thats me controllin destiny or its already known i was gonna feel like goin to that place anyway

i don't believe in destiny. how is it possible? god has planned out every life on earth?

lmao
If there was a divine power such as God, then God would be beyond time. God would not be restricted by time as he would have been the creator of time. IF God was restricted by time then Gd would be limited and therefore not divine. So any action you do tomorrow is known by God, you cntrol that aspect of your destiny through yur choice but God would know becasue God is not stuck in time like us.

To sum my perspective up. Destiny is like lifting your legs whilst standing. You can easily lift up one leg whist stood up, that is the destiny you control. But try lifting your other leg (both legs at the same time) - inpossible - that is the destiny beyond your control.

this thread is gonna come down to people who believe in god arguing with people who don't believe in god about whether or not it exists. religious people normally seem to be way more guillable than your average non-religious person. there can't be something called destiny if you are referring to destiny as in he path chosen for your life. everything in this world is coincident. anyone who believe in science is probably gonna feel the same, while people who believe in god deny to accept it as fact.

That's a sweeping statement...

?
Obviously it's my perspective on matters. The fact that I don't believe in a divine power means it would be strange for me to believe in destiny.

Even if destiny were to exist, would it matter? If destiny is the predetermined, inevitable course of the future, what does it matter to us? Even if one could reveal their destiny, they couldn't change it. To that end, it doesn't matter whether or not destiny exists.

The poster asked for everyones take on matters and not for people to aruge about it. You can't really argue about it anyway.

However, it is blind to say that a forum full of nerds who love to argue isn't going to argue. Look at me now, I'm arguing damnit!

Destiny
If destiny exists that means that we lack choice and thus it means that we have no free will. Thus there is no 'gods plan' afterall and our freedom has been pre determined.
However, what i do believe in is cause and effect. We all cause things that effect something. What does this mean? Well everything we do brings forward a series of events in which we all have choices in. Since we all decide thousands of different things every day (some unconsciencly or out of habit) we create a series of events with each decision. Everything we do has a ripple effect and thus will effect something else. Because there's billions of people and each makes some sort of decision everyday, we are all in the middle of trillions of these ripples and waves that have been caused by billions of people now and before us. Everything has a cause and everything has an effect. That's what i believe in
Now what is destiny, because there are trillions upon trillions of waves, many coincidences happen... thus we call this 'destiny'. Think about it. Think about how many decisions u make a day, how many people there are, how many people had to decide in the past before us, etc etc.

I hold fast to my first thought on this subject, and think of it as a Paradox (definition: a contradictory statement that may be true).

Destiny is an un-determined conclusion (imo). A conclusion that is yet to come and exists only in the future, and it being in the future makes it yet to be decided (yet to be determined = undetermined). This being my best explanation to articulate what I mean. In saying this I do not doubt that destiny cannot be predetermined, far from it. A Paradox? I think so and is exactly what I mean.

I believe if Destiny is quintessentially pre-determined then we would know what our destiny is beforehand!! Since we do not then some part of it must be undetermined. Death is predetermined obviously, that goes without saying, everybodys destiny is to die.

If each of us have a fate, a destiny - then we must be reading the book of life instead of writing it (metaphorically speaking). Which creates the idea that we aren't in control of our own lives.

What we are really doing here is examining the process of Causality! Are we not?

well said...

i think however that the concept of destiny is only relevant if you know (or you can find out) the future...
if not, it's only a romantic idea.

It s very easy to say an event relates to destiny after it happens, cuz every event that happened is inevitable (duh)

this reminds me of the play: "Eudipus Rex"
The oracle says to Oedipus's parents that their child will grow up to kill his father and marry his mother. this prediction leads to a serie of actions and decisions that will lead to the fullfillment of the prophetie, none of which would have happened if the Oracle had kept his mouth shut...

nice story btw
