**Deep Impact** A Harry_Potter Conspiracy theory

#1
Have you all heard about this?

http://apnews.myway.com/article/20050701/D8B2RAUG1.html

I just can’t help but think there is something to all the Synchronicity.

So this “probe” is called “Deep Impact”, which bears the same name as a Hollywood Movie that is about using a missile to prevent a Asteroid from hitting earth.

Hmmmm

The Impact is set to happen on July 4th, why would they pick that day? Most government workers get that day off, why do something so important on our nations most important holiday?

Nasa has a history of being “numbers” freaks, and planning things for certain times based on some ancient numerology thing. Lol I will look up info on that later.

Just to me this seems weird, anyone else?

What is this theory you've come up with? That the comet's gonna hit earth, and NASA are trying to blow it up while masquerading the project as a way to see the inside of the comet? The Impactor isn't going to destroy the comet, just put a hole in it.

The project was proposed in 1996 (before the film was released) and they came up with the name independently at about the same time as the people making the film. Some of the NASA people working on the project were consultants on the film, though.

Well, that solves it then :)

p.s. i actually kinda liked the deep impact film because a big chunk of comet actually hit earth :) that was very cool. unlike armageddon, where everything is saved and happy ends. deep impact ended in a mess :D

.
I know they are not going to destroy it, but I am thinking the explosion will alter the orbit knocking it off course.

The impact will have a negligible effect on its orbit, not that it's going to collide with the earth anyway. If it were on an earth-threatening trajectory, a craft this size wouldn't affect its course enough to miss the Earth. The comet would have to be 40 times smaller to be knocked off course by the Impactor craft over the course of a ten year period. The Impactor is the size of a coffee table, the comet is the size of Manhattan Island.

If a real comet the size of Manhattan would be coming directly at us, we'd be screwed BIG TIME.

And Illuminat, harry would expect a proper nuke to lurk in the thingy or something explosive doomsday style thing.

Thats what they want you to think!

if they were trying to cover it up with such an obvious name they should've just named it "Operation Save the Earth from a Huge Fucking Asteroid Like in the Movies, Damn That Would Suck if This Failed"

What's so important about National Holidays? You just party and get drunk..

And for your information, people.. the probe is not going to destroy the coment because it is going to hit earth. It isn't going to hit earth. The probe was sent into space for scientific research, so when the 'Deep Impact' lands on the comet during the collision, it can unlock the inner workings of the comet.

Hehe, watch the NASA scientists be dumbfounded if their camera shows them images of a mouse civilizations living peacefully and organized inside the comet :)

PASADENA, Calif. - A NASA probe smashed into its comet target late Sunday, setting off a spectacular fireworks show that scientists hope will reveal clues to the formation of the solar system.

The Deep Impact mission’s “Impactor” probe hit the lower end of the Comet Tempel 1 as scheduled, just before 11 p.m. PT Sunday (2 a.m. ET Monday), marking the first time a spacecraft has ever touched the surface of a comet. The 820-pound (373-kilogram), copper-sheathed Impactor had departed from its “Flyby” mothership a day earlier.

Impactor’s imaging system sent back pictures of the pickle-shaped comet right down to the final seconds of its existence, while Flyby watched the whole thing from a front-row seat 5,000 miles (8,000 kilometers) away. The blast took place 83 million miles (133 million kilometers) from Earth.

The funniest (or most asinine) part about this conspiracy theory is that it pretends NASA is the only agency tracking the course of comets.

If a comet the size of Manhattan Island was headed toward Earth, every country's space agency would know it.

its not going to land on it, its going to collide with it, and the 'flyby' part as they call it, will be launched near it to record the results
and hehe duke i agree it would be 'hitchhiker's' glaore if they find something like that hehe..
