Technology CPU Usage...

as of late, my CPU usage (monitored by task manager on the bottom) has been at 100% for extended periods of time...and im sure its going over its limit, because i do have alot of thigns running at once, (aim, bittorrent, a couple IExplorer windows, itunes, all at once...)

so i was wondering, what improves or raises the max the CPU can handle...the processor, or RAM? i was looking to add about a gig more of RAM to my all read 512....oh, and my processor is 2.4ghz.....

let me know what could help me handle more programs open at once..:confused:

wow, i got so many spyware scanners its crazy..i got lavasoft's adaware, sbc yahoo dsl's online protection, which came with my internet, and then i got the one from microsoft themselves...ran all three, all i get is tracking cookies, which they say are harmless...no programs though...

i do have like, 5 programs running which are dedicated to that sbc internet protection thing...but should i really turn them ofF?

wmp54gs is another program running, but i think thats my wireless card...

my cpu thingy is 323/1123

and if its the processor that determines this, i gotta buy a new one? RAM wont do anything?

you dont gotta buy anything,no program will use %100 of your 2.4Ghz processing speed.Only if the program locks up and goes in a loop will this problem happen.Like i said,check the task manager,and see which program is causing this,then stop running it.If its a windows system file,you need to re install windows.

and kinda off topic, but i dled a file i've never heard of before...a I41..something like that...i think i can see the apple logo on it, so im guessing its in an apple format...anyway to convert this? it's music..

i looked again at my TM, and i see that a program called system idle process takes up about 90% of my CPU......i dunno what this program does, but do i really need it?

Yes, you really need it.

It's not a process, it measures how much idle capacity you have, i.e. capacity you're not using. The higher the percentage, the better.
