Lost his mother at age 12 to cancer
It's Every Day
Reaching out to help others is important to Odom. So important, that when a 13-year-old Hialeah boy lost five members of his family in a house fire, Lamar took the boy under his wing. He bought the boy and his brother courtside seats for Miami Heat games, took the boy on a shopping spree buying him thousands of dollars worth of Heat merchandise and clothing and helped them become “lucky charms” for the team as labeled by his teammates. “I've had losses in my life, so I understand the pain, even though theirs is different because they lost their family in a drastic, violent way,” Odom said. “For me to get tickets or sneakers or jerseys for them is the smallest thing, and giving of my time is so simple, too, and it means so much to these kids. I'd do it 100 times over just to see them smile.”

On the Opening Ceremony at the 2004 Olympics: “It was a once in a lifetime experience. Nothing short of being a blessing from God to be able to experience something like that. The Olympic Opening ceremony is something I’ve watched on TV my entire life, so to actually be a part of it, is something that I will never forget.”
In Loving Memory of
Jayden Joseph Morales Odom
December 15, 2005 — June 29, 2006
As many of you know, Lamar and his family suffered a terrible loss on June 29th with the unexpected death of Lamar's infant son, Jayden Joseph Morales Odom.
In lieu of cards or flowers the family is requesting a donation be made to Lamar's foundation, Cathy's Kids, which focuses on positively impacting the lives of under-privileged children, as well as targeting a disease that has significantly impacted Lamar's life, cancer.
The means for making on-line donations are in the process of being set up. In the meantime, feel free to send a tax-deductible donation in the form of a check made payable to:
Cathy's Kid's, Inc.

Lamar, Liza, and their entire family thank everyone for their support in this time of great sadness.

I emailed Lakers PR about this terrible tragedy, wondering if the CL and LG community could possibly send Lamar letters of support when hes ready to come back to LA. Here is the response
Quote:
Dave –
I know Lamar would appreciate the support and thanks for the heart-felt email. The best way to get the well-wishes and condolences to him would be to mail them to our office here in El Segundo. Attention the letters to Lamar Odom c/o John Black. This way we’ll receive them in the PR office and pass them along to Lamar. Our mailing address is:
555 N. Nash St.
El Segundo, CA 90245
Thanks.
- Josh
If anyone wants to coordinate this, feel free. If not, letters and kind words can be mailed to that address, Lamar Odom c/o John Black and they will be forwarded to Lamar. I think its the least any of us can do.
