How do I know if the CDs are spinning?
lets diagnose the problem.
first you said the computer sees the drive,so obviously the damn thing is still hooked properly, and the computer sees the hardware fine,so thats one problem out of the way.
second step. make sure the room ur in is quiet, cuz ur gonna need to listen properly.
put in a cd,then close the drive.
now depending on your drive, some of them have a green or yellow light at the front of the drive, see if you have one,and if u do have one, check to see if it lights up at all and what it does.
now comes the listening part.u should hear like a fan turn on inside the drive (that means the disc is spinning). keep listening and see how long the fan noise stays on,and see if it keeps turning on and off on and off.
^if the fan does that on and off continiously, then ur lens is dirty and u need one of those cd lens cleaners. they arent that expensive.
if u have one of those lights but it doesnt turn on when u insert a cd, then ur drive is toast.
if u have one of those lights and it keeps flashing for a while(id say a good 2-3 minutes) when u insert ur cd,then again,u need one of those lens cleaners.
hope this helps, let us know how it worked out for you
when u put the cd in the drive,u should start hearing it
