With fans like those, how can you question whether football is the greatest sport in the world? Look at the passion. You don't get that kind of atmosphere in any other sport, not even in the biggest games between the biggest teams.

Off topic a little, why are Brazilians so good at football? Is it something in the water?

lmao
i dont know...we are born under the football sign i guess ... i mean 9 out of 10 (litterally) kids wants to be a football player. Every square, Condo, neighborhood and school has a football field.
Almost every championship final (national or international) theres someone who dies with heart complications . Its a fact.

But in Brazil, such a desigual place, it brings other reallity to people.
It has a lot of social and cultural issues as well...

But one thing you got here, its a passionate sport, Im a fanatic, and I know what im saying, i was a player and now im a fan, you can cry if you win, if you lose, if you tie the game at the final second.

SO...ima move to Sao Paulo, the most populated state and with the best teams right now, Im going to post only the main sets, but theres other ones dope as hell.

Starting with the World Champions Sao Paulo:
Torcida Independente - 1972 -
Sao Paulo has the 3rd biggest number of fans in Brazil, 3 times World Champion, and lots and lots more champions, its well known to be team that has more important titles in Brazilian footbal.
Independente has around 35.000 ppl, they had to chance some parts of its name, cause the Set was closed by the Feds, they killed a lot of people and they were involved in this huge fight when a member was killed too, during the last 5-10 years fights involvin this set has more then 20 deads (thats really sad). They have sub-sets in almost every place of Brazil, and in some places of the world, Like Japan for eg. where they had more then 700 people (living in Japan) against Liverpool.
Japan: http://www.independentenet.com.br/mundial2005/japao/

At the finals they made a party at they HQ:

The city of Sao Paulo stopped to welcome the World Champions

Sad side:
A lot of Brazilian sets have affiliation with gangbangin, drug dealers and rival crime organizations, so the fights are not only about the sport..... thats also a social problem...wich is really bad

1995 - More them 2.000 ppl, almost 200 injured and 1 dead

Another Set:

Mancha Verde (Palmeiras Fc)
Since 1983, one of the biggest sets. 30.000 ppl .
It was closed by the feds along with Independente, they are big rivals.
Has a deep Italian influence, the team was once called Palestra Italia .
Also has a lot of sub-sets all around. And allies at a lot of States (every Fan set has an ally, and theres 2 big lines of alliance in Brasil)
Its a great set!

DPG iz all I C said:
Yeah great effort they put in, if only there were more fans like that in Britian.
or anywhere in the world for that matter!!! In Europe, the closest thing that comes to Brazilians, it's the Italians and the Spaniards.

Here it is,

Gavioes da Fiel ( Corinthians SC )
The biggest set in Brasil, around 70.000 ppl .
Since 1969, has a huge political influence at Corinthians, a lot of members are also members of Corinthians counsil. They travel to anywhere in the world. And like Independente and Mancha Verde they are a Samba Set too, at the special division of Sao Paulo"s Carnaval.
Corinthians has the 2nd biggest number of fans in Brasil, and gavioes has sub sets in every big city of Brasil.

Huge flag 196m x 65m

Well...
Im continue to this, I have some nice displays left

Today Im gonna post info and pics from Flamengo's supporters.
Flamengo, people say, have the biggest number of supports of the world, its about 35 million people.
They have 2 big sets.. the biggest is called Raca Rubro Negra, since 1977, has more then 50.000 members and its called the 12th player. great displays and chants.

Pics: http://www.racarubronegra.com.br/imagens.asp?pagina=1&cat=2

The other one is called Torcida Jovem-Fla, great set too, since 1967. Has more then 20.000 members.
Its one of, if not THE most violent set... They are called Exercito Rubro-Negro (Red n Black Army) their chants are about violence, and they are organized in platoons, almost every component is from some Gang/Drug set. They are small at regular games, but when its derbies and it will get violence involved they are huge.
Well, Rio de Janeiro is all about the gangs on each "favela" so, sometimes someone must join some set, even if they dont support his team...So...as the color goes, Red is the color of the biggest and most dangerous gang, hence the Flamengo option is more adequated. Oh, they have this HUGE alliance with Independente from Sao Paulo (posted before) they like brothers...
Jovem Fla has a process going against then to close the Set, they just killed a guy from Botafogo's set with a sickle

some pics: http://www.jovemfla31.com.br/fotos4.htm
some stolen flags pics, they call it a Trophy:
http://www.jovemfla31.com.br/trofeus.htm

every set in brasil has a lot of stolen flags, but i couldn find a lot of pics, thats why im posting this one only.

well..i was part of one of its platoons, in my city... you know, wild teenagers, so if you look at the stolen flags link, Im there at the pic "Trofeu 36 " the left guy
