Boycott China

First, you shouldn’t trust anything made in China. Not because they’re not technically advanced or that they can’t create good products. They certainly can. In fact, in many cases they’re exemplary in the quality of what they create. It is the body politic that I’m concerned with. Because of the need for a better image due to the Olympics coming, the body politic in China is trying now to show that they are giving some freedoms, or improving things in the workplace. But just last week they executed-- shot in the back of the head-- the man who was the head of their FDA. Why? Because he had taken bribes and allowed some very bad ingredients to go into some products which could end up killing people. Now, that is their token gesture. It means nothing to them. They kill people every day. In fact, China executes more prisoners then all other countries in the world combined. And a lot of the people they kill are Falun Gong, which is a spiritual movement that is being persecuted by the Communist regime.

The Falun Gong is basically a meditative group with about 100 million members. It advocates adhering to three principle traits: truthfulness, compassion and forbearance. And the government has arrested almost one tenth of them, 800,000, in one fell swoop. No courts, no trials for most of them. And they put them in prison and use them for organ harvesting to turn a profit, which is a genocide and a crime against humanity.

People in other countries who are on a long waiting list for a heart, kidney, liver, etc., come to China and for the right price, get one within 24 hours. With 800,000 prisoners to choose from, it’s not hard for them to find a match for almost anyone. Yet both the Clinton and Bush administrations have refused to call it genocide. But when you take 800,000 people prisoner and you intend to use their organs, which is in effect killing most of them, that’s genocide. It’s against a specific group of people. Well, the State Department and Bill Clinton didn’t find it within themselves to call Rwanda a genocide, either, so should we expect more from Bush?

You shouldn’t be buying anything coming out of China out of respect for the people who are suffering at their hands. Prison labor is the worst in the world there. And then all the child labor. Just a few weeks ago they arrested some people for kidnapping workers to work in their mines. Now think about that for a moment. Just use reason and common sense. Do you mean to tell me that tens of thousands of workers who have been working as indentured slaves, taken prisoner, kidnapped and working in the mines, that the Chinese officials didn’t know this? Because nothing, I mean nothing happens in China unless the Chinese local political leaders are involved in it. They get kickbacks on every single thing. But this got some bad publicity because it got out. And once it got out into the world, then, once again, they have to make some kind of public token gesture. If they weren’t doing the Olympics, they wouldn’t do a thing, but now they had to go and arrest some people. Yet the people who own the mines won’t be arrested at all, just the people who did the kidnapping. That’s how it works.

China does more pirating of every kind of thing you can think of. They steal patents and copyrights left and right because no one there does anything about it. So I would not trust any product out of China, and certainly no food item. None.

So boycott anything coming out of China.

I got a paper today in the subway about China's organ harvesting.

I agree with the boycott, they shouldn't even be allowed to have the Olympics.

i've actually started to try and not buy anything from china. especially clothes. i've started looking at labels to see where it is made. it is hard since so much stuff in the u.s. is imported from china. i've been starting my own personal boycott for others reason as mentioned. also after reading this book, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unrestricted_Warfare , and various reports about china supplying arms to people in iraq to fight american soldiers, i'm starting to look at china in a different light and wonder if they are unofficially at war with the u.s.

and i dont mean war in a traditional sense

i agree with the boycott too, but nowadays so many things come from china. from clothes to food. almost everyting comes from there. and the broke people (like me for instance) aint got money to buy something made in canada or in the u.s when china's products are cheaper. but imma try to boycott them as soon as i get more money.

that is outrageous what they are doing with the prisoners. hopefully someay something will be done about that. its ridiculous how people are treated like shit over there.

A good book just came out by a woman who tried to forgo Chinese imports for one year called A Year Without "Made in China." Besides being fascinating, it'll help you find what is made in China. Many things you wouldn't even suspect are made in China.

http://www.amazon.com/Year-Without-...4944929?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1184884260&sr=8-1

"When the writer resolves to forgo Chinese imports for one year, she leads her lively family in a fascinating experiment that requires surprising feats of will power and ingenuity. The family's adventure through the maze of modern America's consumer life is both thought provoking and delightful to read. Those little 'Made in China' labels will never seem the same again."
—Mark Fabiani, former White House special counsel and media/political consultant

You will never go shopping the same way again! It's impossible to read Sara Bongiorni's book and not be captivated by the complexity and challenge of her task, and to then try it yourself for a day and fail miserably at it by lunchtime. This is the rare book that makes you think about how big global issues actually hit home, and it will have you discussing those issues with your friends."

There's plenty of places where you can purchase sweat-shop free apparel in the US that's made in the US. Problem is, it costs too much and doesn't even look good. :(

Well, she's funny. Her grandfather or great grandfther used to be a powerful general in China, but than the Chinese government ruined him for no good reason, claiming he was subversive, so she hates the Communist government. But whenever we get into a discussion about something, she always ends up defending them at least in part.

Like when I was talking to her about Falun Gong, she told me that they have become very political and radical cult, that its not just a spiritual group anymore. Therefore, she says, the government is justified in taking them down for the sake of the country's stability.

She's disgusted by the kidney thing though. We talked about that last year.

I need to look up more on things. I want to get into a debate with her, but I feel like it will end up badly :D

You know of any credible sources I could use to educate myself?

Well, David Kilgour, former Canadian Secretary of State, is one of the main sources on the Falun Gong. His website is a great place to start:

http://www.david-kilgour.com/

Also:

Here's a good interview of him on New Tang Dynasty Television:

Sure, they're now getting political. 800,000 of them were arrested on no charges. They're not just going to meditate and wait for their turn.
