The guy makes an argument in support of football as the new national support. Personally, I think he's full of shit. Football may be more marketable, but who has more passion than a Red Sox or a Yankees fan?

it all depends what areas of the country

overall football seems to be more popular now, but historically its new compared to baseball

the NFL has only been around since the early 1920s, professional baseball has been around since the end of the civil war

two different things. There's nothing like gathering with some buddies every Sunday at 1 o'clock to see the home team kick some ass. It's more of a tradition kind of thing.

Baseball, being around longer, is the pastime. More older people like baseball than football. This will most likely change in the next decade once they die off

its a good debate but i think the argument sways in favor of the sport that is more fan friendlier and when they dont have strikes and fan alienation...i like baseball but with its strike and steroid scandal its lost its integrity and people are switching to football...which i dont usually like to watch because its a winter sport and the players are ugly...
