Americans just dont know when to shut the fuck up! (Pope John Paul II related)

You know one of those late night entartenment shows where they mostly do laughing and shit.

Well I dont know if anybody catch this but,I was just watchin 'Daily show with jon stewart' and the host jon stewart was doin this lil segment where hes coworker was in Vatican City doin live report basically about Pope John Paul II death.
basically this guy who was doing this live report was asked somethin like where you rate Pope John Paul II as a Pope and he started being mad smart ass. 'well...i think number 7...or 9...or 11...13 is definetly good one...' (as audience were laughing along) somethin like that he was sayin.

then jon stewart started showing some (abviously) fake interview clips of announcing of Pope's death. one of those were 'hello!!!!..the Pope is dead...the Pope is death!!!'' some sarcastic clips like that they were showing and of course the audience were laughing their ass of.

then again, this reporter was asked again who are the leading contenders now as new Pope and guy lists like four of them Pope's and then says sarcastically go out there now and vote for them as if it was a grammy awards and of course the whole audience laughs along with it.
i might have missed some other jokes they made, those who seen it will tell you.

i mean this is not funny. i know its a talk entertainment show and its a show where people make fun of anythin and everybody but this is not funny anymore. you got one of the most influencual humans in 20th century just died, not to mention he was like a god figure to some people and you making fun of him? this is just behind the stupidiness. i mean think about it, this man was really almost like a god figure to some people and nevertheless he was a holy father. and you making fun of him? i dont give a fuck what religion you are or whatever the fuck you believe, give man a respect. holy father,a priest, this is one of those things you just cant mess with. because theres is nothin like and god forgive me but there is nothin like what god can do to you with the power he has.

and then Americans wonder ''why are we so hated by people all around the world?'' this is why are you hated motha fuckers! because you dont know when to keep your fuckin mouth shot and you dont know how to keep you mind on your fuckin buissness! this is just disgrace. i mean come on man. some of you might be sayin im overexaggerating and i have somethin against American people but this is not the first time shit like this happend man, and it wont be the last time either. we all know that, shit like this always happends. if Americans are best known for anythin they are best known for their loud ass smart ass sarcastic mouth. come on now. this is just fuckin radiculous, disgrace and its behind the level of stupidity. and behind the level of class. class? this motha fuckers talkin bout class? come on man. no fuckin wonder why this country is worlds most hated! no fuckin wonder!

first of all, not only americans make jokes about the pope and his death. there was probably one on german TV already (although i havent seen one)

secondly, u can joke around and still have respect for this man and what he has done in his life!

thirdly, u have to understand that the pope is not that "holy" for some people out there as he might be for you and million of other people around the world. not saying u dont have to show respect for this man just because u aint religious or something, just saying that its not a big-deal for these kind of people.

fourthly, calm down

i understand where your coming from, but jon stewart does not talk for the whole united states. Thats like a show coming from england, saying a joke i dont agree with, and saying its all of england that doesnt know how to shut the fuck up, that comment was really ignorant. also i dont believe anyone should be making jokes about the popes death but there will always be people that joke around about everything. We cant stop people from doing it, people are assholes and not all people believe in the same thing you or i believe in. Just dont base a whole country on one ignorant person.

Regardless of the fact that it was disrespectfull, the jokes are not even funny.

People can be funny without being disrespectfull. I've heard some funny jokes about the pope's death, but they weren't offensive to anyone.

but i guess some people have to sound shocking just to gather audiences and to get free publicity

I agree with you to a certain extent Bachaveli... topics like this are sensitive because they mean so much to people. The media should have a duty to try and remain objective and non-offensive. I wouldn't find it funny, it does sounds disrespectful.

The thing is, where do you draw the line... I mean, can we, or should we be politically correct about such topics? We joke about nazis, we joke about osama bin laden, we joke about saddam, and those topics are sensitive to a lot of people. I guess it is a downside of liberal democracy...freedom of speech and freedom to laugh, even if at the expense of others... When it comes to religion, however, something which is at the centre of people's lives, something which defines who they are, surely we have a duty to show respect and compassion, even more so than usual at times like this.

A little off topic but I read somewhere during the Pope's ceremony, after he died, he was asked if he was dead, is this tradition?

Jon Stewart is a jew so it figures... :thumb:

There's money to be made off of Karol Woltyla's and Terri Schiavo's deaths.

But looking on the bright side, and knowing that the Pope was a jokester, and was always looking forward to good laughs, I'm preety sure he's smiling down upon us...even at the worst sinners...

^^ here's hoping :p

Im certainly not a religious person and i have big big grudges against bible thumping groupies, but i'd always show any holy man of any faith respect. i dont care if hes a priest, a vicker, a cardinal, pope, ilam, imam or buddhist monk, these people have dedicated their lives to a certain faith and conviction and they're worthy of my respect, in any form

I always love a bit of America bashing :D , but i dont think this is a reason to bash America. Rather to bash the people who made a rather untastefull program, harsh to tar the whole of america with this brush, im sure only a few million watched it in a nation of 250million+, but i see your point, a lil respect wouldnt have gone amiss!
peace

The Pope is a human being just like the rest of us...to some his celebritity status leaves him open to jokes, but I don't thik Jon Stewart was being disrespectful at all. The Pope is just a figure head for the church, I don't think he's that influencial is he?

where do u think other countries getting the idea of making the fun of people coming from? exactly Americans. other countries be copying what Americans do so you first have to look at yourself before judging other people.

not in my book. i dont know where you coming from but i dont find that funny.

these kind of people? Pope is a human just like us but you cant put him in same boat as most of us as you reffering him to as 'these kind people' he done a lot and influenced more people then any of us will ever will.
look,im not even a catholic and sayin what im sayin doesnt make me a Pope dickryder.

i wouldnt put Pope and president on same level. specially george w.bush.
besides, when they do make fun of bush they mean it. they dont just make fun to make people laugh but they make fun of him to make a point crossed. even some Americans know he a dumb.

you have to draw a line a lot of cases regardless of what is it. because some people dont take that humor as other do.specially when it comes to religion you have to stop. i dont care. you dont make fun of any kind of religion.
