I have to be honest. It has always puzzled me why people affiliate themselves with Republicans. Even if you have some Conservative values, it doesn't make sense to vote or support these people. So I must ask you - why are you a Repbulican?

I've come across many different types of Republicans - tall ones, small ones, fat ones, skinny ones - and I've come to these general "reasons" (quoted due to the fact that is indeed no reason behind the "reasons") for why people are Republicans.

1. You're Rich
You're a Republican because you have a shitload of money, most likely because it was passed down to you or your parents bought your acceptance into a major university. Of course you don't want Democrats in office. They steal all your hard earned cash through taxes and redistribute the money through domestic programs that aid minorities, women, handicapped, and generally people in need and that lower the overall cost of living. Plus you want to make sure that $98,000 cap on income taxes isn't raised or removed, because being fully taxed on your annual income of $800,000 would put you in the poor house. Also, if the "death tax" is reinstated, that means your kids might have to learn how to work for themselves.

2. You're Religious
I am Roman Catholic. When I was in 8th grade I was in a Sunday school-like class to prepare myself for the sacrament of Confirmation. That same year, Texas governer George W. Bush was running for president against Vice President Al Gore. When I asked my teacher why he supported an idiot like Bush, he gave me one reason - he was against abortion. Forget all the other pertinent issues of the election like how the economy would fare so he could feed his six kids. Bush said he was against abortion, so this Catholic supported him, no qestions asked. It didn't even occur to him that he was using a political ploy to fool him into getting his vote. It didn't occur to him that the man who executed more people as governor than anyone else ever probably doesn't give a rat's ass if a couple of babies don't make it through.

3. Your Parents Are Republican
Somewhere down the line your parents fell for one of these things, and since you don't have a mind of your own, you go for what they say. Then instead of ever trying to figure it out for yourself, you go into every election booth uninformed and vote Republican all the way across, effectively fucking up this country for the years to come.

4. You Think People Need to Make Their Own Way
You believe that the American dream still exists in an already established industrial nation and that every single American has the opportunity to make it no matter what the cirumstances. Nevermind the fact that a lot of kids aren't provided with suitable resources throughout their childhood to arm themselves with these tools. It's their fault that their schools aren't getting the money and putting forth the effort in the teachings. You don't like social security because it has holes in it and people take advantage of it. Everything has holes. Sponges have holes. Asses have holes. Your argument has holes. Forget the kid who didn't get into Yale even though he had a better record than you because your daddy knows the dean. You never took advantage of anything in your life. Why don't we just eliminate college educations because some people can work the system? But if you work hard enough, you can get anywhere, right? Nevermind the single mothers who work their asses off at three jobs to make enough money to be poor. You simply say that she shouldn't have had so many kids. It's her own fault. Basically, you're an inconsiderate asshole.

5. You're an Inconsiderate Asshole

6. You're Ignorant
You basically don't know any better. You've just been eating up FOX News all your life until you actually believed it.

7. You Don't Care About Black People

I'll admit, this is more of a rant than serious discussion, but it should get some people riled up, which I like. So go ahead and vote, and tell me why you choose to align yourself with a party that seems to promote self-interest over community welfare.

Final notes: RELIGION AND POLITICS SHOULD NOT BE MIXED. Jesus didn't preach about how to spark the economy or how to strengthen Social Security. He preached about being a good person and caring for the men and women around you.
