Allen Iverson no longer being shopped

I was hoping to see Iverson in Boston just because it would be cool to see him and Peirce together (although I'm not a big Celtic guy)

guess he's forced to rot away in Philly where he'll never win

He wanted to stay himself so it's not like he is being forced. Most NBA fans said it would've been weird to see Iverson wearing another jersey other than Philly.

With Carney to provide depth, we may have a better season than last. Iverson/Webber duo was the highest points duo in the league. Our problem is defense, not offense. I hope Dalembert can step up and play as well, before he signed that big contract of his.

Peace~

It would've been cool to see the Answer and the Truth together. Too historically score first players who have learned to pass over the last couple years.

A.I. wanted to stay in Philly just so he didn't have to move. As long as he is a Sixer though, he won't be a champion.

If you believe the man's word himself, here is what he said about the prospect of being traded.

"I want to be a Sixer, I have said that since Day 1," Iverson said. "But if I am not wanted, then I definitely don't want to be a Sixer and I am willing to start my career all over."

Nothing to suggest that he wanted to stay in Philly just because he didn't have to switch teams.

Maybe getting a ring is near impossible but night in and night out, Philly fans watches Iverson game after game because he is their sporting icon. Without him there, Philadelphia as a sport city won't be the same. I'm speaking from a fan's perspective here.

I'm fully aware that he has better chance to win a ring with the Celts, which I actually did not mind of them doing. There was also a rumour that he was moving to Cleveland & LA Clippers, which also two teams that I won't mind him moving into.

But for now, he stays with the 76ers. Loyalty goes a long way.... Billy King should appreciate AI's loyalty to the 76ers.

Peace~

^ It had nothing to do with switching teams. He doesn't want to uproot his family or leave the city.
OK.... obviously you have a bit more insight stuff more than me because I live in Australia and we receive shit all info on NBA's except about Bogut. I got that quote and story from NBA.com.

But we can't really blame Allen for bringing family as another reason for him not wanting to leave. Once you're a family man and stayed at the city for almost your whole life, then you'll probably get what he is trying to say.

At the end of the day, I think Billy King may have made the right decision to not trade Iverson for next season. AI had one of his best season last year. We struggled in depth, bench and defense. C'mon Dalembert & Webber, do your thang. :p

Peace~

Yeah, I live in the Philadelphia area (Chapel Hill is just during school), so I get all the Philly news.

Good stuff man :thumb: I hope to go there one day and watch some home games. I better do that soon, otherwise, who knows where AI might be next season. :p

Do you follow and support the 76ers, yourself?

Peace~

Nah, I'm a North Carolina/Boston fan.

I was born in Greensboro, NC, so I support all the Carolina teams. My mom's whole family is from Massachusetts, so I grew up a Red Sox fan. I don't think I could ever drop the Sox even if NC gets a baseball team one day.

Always been a Red Sox fan.

Was a Charlotte Hornets fan, then they moved and I was a Celtics fan until the Bobcats came around.

I was a Patriots fan until the Panthers came into the league.

And I was a Bruins fan until the Whalers moved to NC.

I've never liked the Philly teams at all. I can't stand the Eagles, not too big of a hockey fan so I don't mind the Flyers, the Phillies suck so who cares, and I don't really like the Sixers. I can stand them now that A.I. has matured into a basketball player, not just a scorer.

It seems that AmerikazMost switching teams just like that. Stay gritty man. :)
Back on the topic, I'm happy with this news. I can't imagine Sixers without AI. That will be horror.

Nah man...I gotta represent NC :)

The Panthers came into the league when I was about 10 and had no real loyalty to a team, though I watched the Patriots because of my parents.

And I was a huuuuuuuuuuge Hornets fan. Shinn pissed me off so much when he decided to move them. I couldn't like them after that. Since then I haven't really into the NBA. Starting to get back into though :)

Meh AI will win nothing at the Sixers, i think he should think about leaving. What was the closet he got? The NBA finals defeat vs Lakers? No way will Philly reach that far for a few years..or more.
