Anybody ever fuck up their ACL, its the main ligament in the leg, i did about 5 years ago, tottaly blew it out along with 2 other ligaments and had to have reconstructive surgury, I tryed to jump over a fence running full speed and diddent quite make it over.
My leg still gives me problems 2 this day, i even tore my cartalige about 3 months ago as a rusult of that old surgery and had to have surgery again, if you ever had that happen you know how much it sucks, i cant even run without being real carefull, well mabee i can but i almost never do because i still dont trust my knee, the last thing i need is to be crippled for that long again on crutches, anyhow anybody else got any war stories?

Thats a real bad injury to get, a career ender to most professional athletes, I'm training to be a physiotherapist so I know what you must have been through and be careful with that knee from know on because you are now very vunerable to osteo arthritis,

The worst 2 injuries that I've had are over use injuries, osgood schlatters in my right knee and severs disease in both achillies tendons, osgood stopped me playing football for about 4 months and severs used cause me so much discomfort that at times it was unbearable,

Sorry to bring this up again. How did you tear your ACL? From the way you described it, sounds like a football injury. First, you have the actual physical injury, which can take years to fully heal. Then, like you said, there is the mental effect, you can't really trust your knee again. Have you ever seen the movie or read the book "Friday Night Lights"? It's like when Boobie tore out his knee, and the mental effect was killer on him (it explains this more in the book than the movie).

No real horror stories on my part, most ive done is bad pulls and sprains, no ligament damage. I'm lucky, getting hit on a route over the middle by 250 pound linebackers can knock the living hell out of you, I'm just lucky it wasn't my knees. Got some concussions as battle scars, though.

There may be cases where there is 100% recovery, but I'm not sure. I'd amagine most of these sorts of injuries would leave some sort of defect in the ligament. I dislocated some of my fingers a while back and they're now deformed for life. Make Quasimodo look pretty. The mobility has slightly decreased as well which is a bitch. Also injured my wrist a while back and there is still pain with certain movements. So in most cases, at least from experience, after an injury you're never going to recover 100%.
